7 Steps to obtaining an Education Visa in Thailand.

Step 1: Come into our office located in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a free initial consultation and pay 80 % of the necessary fees or payment in full.

After payment, whether you come in person or send by bank transfer, we submit application to the university with payment.

{What documents do we need from you? We need a picture of every page in your passport that has information on it, passport picture, email and phone number}

Step 2: North Chiang Mai University in return gives us a letter to submit to immigration (1 or 2 days process). We then submit that letter to immigration with fees and immigration gives us an appointment to attention the visa in about 3 days. Usually it can take about 7 working days, but it can be faster if you pay extra 5,000 baht for VIP fast-track.

Note: We need to submit your passport to immigration with letter from university, copies of passport and application forms, as soon as you arrive in Chiang Mai bring your passport to our office.

Note : Please catch an early flight or arrive by bus early morning.

Our office opens at 9am you are welcome to join us for coffee on us.

We submit your payment and request to register for classes at North Chiang Mai University

Step 3. North Chiang Mai University registration department provides a letter of acceptance for the Thai language course via the Ministry of Education.

Note :This usually takes 7 business days to process. Please be patient.

Step 4: Visa Support Thailand will make an appointment with the immigration office located at Central Fesitival Shopping Mall on the 2nd floor . You will need to come to immigration and take a picture on this day. Usually no more than an hour wait. We will have a member of our staff to accompany you. Please take a selfie of yourself, where you are standing so we can easily find you. Immigration can be very busy at times.

If you do not live in Chiang Mai we suggest ask that you spend one night in Chiang Mai to allow immigration to process the paper work and recieve your passport back asap.

NOTE : Depending on how many days you have left on your current visa, we may need to extend your visa for 30 days. Immigration requires at least 30 days left on your current visa to change visa types.

Step 5. Receive passport with ED visa good for 90 days. Congratulations

Step 6: Join the University student LINE app group. Log into classes via LINE QR code or invite link.

NOTE: You will have to register your Thai phone number with the LINE app in order to join the University online student group.

NOTE : If you did not register your LINE account in Thailand with a Thai phone number, please backup all contacts and reinstall the LINE app to get the Thai version with more accessible capabilities.

NOTE : If you downloaded the LINE app and registered your app within another country or other phone number than a Thai phone number the QR code or invite link will show you an error and not let you join the group.

NOTE : Classes are held on Microsoft Teams application. No worries you will receive instructions from the University.

***Step 7*: After 45 days you will need to come back to immigration 2nd floor together with Visa Support Thailand to apply for the 12 month ED visa (For a total of 15 months)**

Note : If you need to leave the country at any time during the validity of your visa, then you will need a re-entry permit. Please get this before you leave Thailand.

Re-Entry and Single entry stamps/ permits can be obtained at the airport and can be purchased prior to your flight, or at an immigration office.

Do I need to live in Chiang Mai to obtain an ED visa? No, all you need is a mobile phone and an internet connection. You can live anywhere.
How long does the process take? After you have made payment, it takes about 7 working days to receive a letter of acceptance from the University or can do it in 1 to 3 days for (fast-track extra charge). Then we will make an appointment with you to go with us to immigration and receive the first 90 days. We can make hotel arrangements for you for one night because this is a two day process. We can fast track the process at immigration to take picture for the same day but we charge 5,000 baht extra fast-track fee.
What is the difference between an education visa from a University / Muay Thai school / language school in Thailand? The difference is the immigration process. If education visa from a language school or Muay Thai school you need to go to immigration every 3 months for attention to the visa and with this program, you can only renew 1 year. With the education visa from a university, you can receive 15 months and renew with this program for up to 2 or 3 years and no need to leave the country every 3 months just go to immigration 1 to 2 times a year.

I’m currently on an education visa from a language school or university. Can I change to your university? The answer is yes but it’s a little different process. You will need to acquire a cancelation letter from your old school. If you can not obtain this letter immigration chrages 2,000 extra baht. We also give you a discount if changing from ed visa to ed visa from university. Immigration will stamp 1 year. You will not receive the 15 months advertised when coming from tourist. Immigration changes their rules on this sometimes. Sometimes they will stamp 6 months at a time. This determination is out of our hands.

Why can’t I just go directly to North Chiang Mai University and apply directly? Visa Support Thailand has an (MOU) memorandum of understanding with North Chiang Mai University to process the ED Visa / Student visa / Education visa for all students. The teachers and registration department takes care of your education. We take care of your visa.
