Marriage Extension Planning: Financial Records and Appointment Preparation

A family-based extension should be planned around the current permission date and the evidence the immigration office requires. Start with your actual circumstances rather than a generic “marriage visa package.”

Confirm the applicable financial basis

Financial conditions and proof vary by procedure and applicant circumstances. London’s Thai-family visa checklist gives financial figures for its overseas visa applications, but that page should not be treated as the complete rule for every in-country extension. Ask immigration which basis and evidence apply to your file.

Review the evidence period early

If a financial route requires a history, identify the relevant period before requesting the final bank letter. Ask which accounts, statements and ownership details are acceptable. A last-minute transfer may not answer a requirement concerning earlier balances.

Confirm who must attend

Ask whether both spouses must attend, what originals are required and whether there are local forms or other supporting items. Coordinate work, travel and document collection around the appointment rather than assuming one person can handle every step.

Prepare for follow-up

  1. Read any written return date or instruction.
  2. Keep the application receipt with passport copies.
  3. Record which additional documents were requested.
  4. Confirm how planned travel affects the pending procedure.
  5. Check the final permission when the decision is issued.

A receipt, a return appointment and a final extension are different records. Label them clearly in your file so a reminder does not mistake one for another.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy a friend’s bank-document list?

Use it to identify questions, then obtain the checklist for your own application and office.

Does a submitted extension replace address reporting?

Check reporting separately. Do not assume one administrative submission completes every obligation.
