Education Visa Costs in Chiang Mai: Comparing Tuition, Support and Government Fees

Education visa costs in Chiang Mai depend on the course, the application route and the work included in the quotation. Comparing only the largest number on a price card can hide the difference between tuition, document support and government charges.

By Visa Support Thailand. This guide explains how to compare a quotation before enrolling; your school and the authority handling the application determine the documents required.

What does an education visa quotation cover?

Ask for the school name, course dates, class schedule and a written breakdown. Tuition is payment for study. School paperwork supports a visa application. An agency service fee covers the work agreed with the provider. A government application or extension fee is a separate category, even when a provider helps arrange payment.

Our Chiang Mai education visa service page advertises pricing starting at 48,000 baht and a first-year school-and-visa package from 54,000 baht. These describe different pricing references. The first-year package wording excludes the government visa application fee. Request the applicable written quote instead of assuming the lowest advertised figure includes every stage.

Why does the application route affect the budget?

Applying outside Thailand

An embassy application may involve travel, accommodation and the fee charged by the responsible mission. Start with the official Thai e-Visa website and identify the embassy or consulate responsible for your application before paying for travel. An online application does not mean you may apply from any country.

Applying or extending inside Thailand

Changing immigration status and extending an existing ED stay are separate procedures. Before budgeting for an in-country route, have your current entry stamp and remaining permission reviewed. School enrollment alone does not establish that a change of status is available in your case.

What should you ask before paying?

  • Which school, course and study period does this price cover?
  • Does it cover a new application, a change of status, extensions, or only document preparation?
  • Which government charges, translations and travel expenses are excluded?
  • What attendance is required, and when will school documents be issued?
  • What are the written cancellation and refund terms if your circumstances change?

Keep the answers with the invoice. A course advertised for a year is not proof that immigration will grant a single uninterrupted year of stay. Read each permission stamp and plan subsequent steps separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does the cheapest package provide the same service?

Only a comparison of the named course, service scope and exclusions can establish that. Ask both providers to quote for the same application route and study period.

Does paying tuition guarantee an ED visa?

No. The school supplies educational evidence; the relevant embassy or immigration authority decides the application. Avoid treating a receipt as immigration permission.
