Thai e-Visa, TDAC and ETA Reports: Identify the Form Before You Apply

Thailand travel updates can mention an e-Visa, the Digital Arrival Card and an Electronic Travel Authorisation proposal in the same discussion. Those labels should not be treated as interchangeable application forms.

Thai e-Visa concerns a visa application

Use the official Thai e-Visa pathway to identify the relevant visa and responsible mission. The application needs the documents for its category. An application reference or payment receipt is not the same as an issued visa.

TDAC concerns arrival information

Immigration’s official guide states that TDAC is not a visa. It records arrival-related information through the official service. Completing it does not establish visa eligibility or grant a longer permission to stay.

Read ETA reports as a separate question

The ThaiLawOnline update discusses a proposed ETA and its delayed introduction. Do not turn an old proposed launch date into an instruction to buy or submit an authorisation. Before relying on any ETA claim, identify a current official commencement notice, who it covers and the official application channel.

Do not use one form as proof of another

A TDAC confirmation does not prove that a visa was approved. A visa approval does not mean every separate arrival formality has been completed. Keep the records labelled by their actual purpose.

A practical travel-document check

  • Which entry arrangement applies to your passport and purpose?
  • If a visa is required, has it actually been issued?
  • Which current arrival-information procedure applies?
  • Does any reported new authorisation have an official effective notice?
  • After arrival, what permission was actually granted?

Use official domains reached from the responsible authority’s guidance. A page offering paid help with a form is not itself evidence that the authority charges that fee or requires a newly advertised authorisation.

Frequently asked questions

Is TDAC an electronic visa?

No. Immigration expressly distinguishes the arrival card from a visa.

Should I act on a proposed ETA date from an old article?

First verify a current official commencement notice and instructions. A proposal and an operational requirement are different states.
