Moving into a New Rental in Thailand: Checking Your TM30 Evidence

A new lease and an accommodation notification serve different purposes. Before an immigration appointment, confirm how your actual residence is recorded and how to obtain the relevant notification evidence.

Ask the accommodation provider early

Official TM30 guidance describes notification duties for accommodation providers. Ask the owner, manager or responsible possessor who handles the notification, what information they need and how you can receive evidence that it has been completed.

Check the details you provide

Supply accurate passport and arrival information through the agreed process. Check the building number, unit and address spelling. If you renewed your passport or recently returned from abroad, explain that rather than letting the provider reuse out-of-date details.

Keep the evidence with your residence file

The government’s TM30 guidance describes keeping notification evidence. Ask for the appropriate confirmation or receipt and check that it relates to your stay and accommodation. Keep the lease separately so you can distinguish the rental agreement from the notification record.

Before moving again

  • Record the move-in and move-out dates.
  • Confirm which provider handles the new address.
  • Keep the previous record as history.
  • Check any local update instructions relevant to your circumstances.
  • Review reporting and extension deadlines separately.

If a provider says it cannot supply evidence, raise the issue with the handling immigration office before the appointment. Do not create or alter a receipt yourself.
